As the days grow colder, we pull on our socks, don our hats, our cozy sweaters, and our heaviest coats to protect ourselves from the cold air. Yes, these layers keep us warm, but it’s just as important to protect our skin and hair.

Even as the skincare evangelist I am, I often find myself skipping body lotion after my morning shower in the interest of time. (Who has time to let things dry these days?) I recently had the pleasure of trying Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse and Huile Prodigieuse Or and love how easy they make it to moisturize, protect and add a subtle glow. Both are dry oils, which means they’re lightweight and absorb quickly, without leaving an oily feeling behind.

Huile Prodigieuse, the classic of the two, leaves behind a natural sheen, while Huile Prodigieuse Or contains tiny mineral particles that shimmer when the light hits them for a delicately sun-kissed look. Nuxe’s dry oils are made for use on body, face, and hair — a bold claim I’ve found to be untrue one too many times — and I was pleasantly surprised by how well they worked on all three.

Simply put, I have never felt glowier!

Read on for swatches and the full rundown.

From the moment I first laid eyes on the Nuxe dry oils, I was drawn to the beautiful bottles that housed them. The clear, sturdy glass took me back to a time when I admired the bottles of perfume neatly arranged beside my mother’s bathroom sink. They felt luxurious and deeply feminine in a way not many products do these days. I instantly suspected they would become just as much a fixture in my bathroom as they would in my beauty routine. The larger 3.3 fluid ounce size is a spray bottle, which makes applying this oil mess-free.

Before using a new product on my face, I always make sure to test it on my body. I love how smooth these oils make my skin feel, and how quickly they absorb. For full body application after a shower, I mix Huile Prodigieuse with my usual body lotion, which results in a more toned down glow, but my skin still feels extremely hydrated and comfortable.

While you could certainly apply these oils alone, or mix with your face lotion, I prefer to use them in place of a highlighter. To do so, gently press the oil onto the parts of your face the light naturally catches — that U-shape from your brow bones to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and your cupid’s bow. The classic formula leaves a dewy sheen, while Huile Prodigieuse Or has the effect of a subtle bronzer on my fair skin. Dry oils can also be mixed with your favorite foundation for an overall dewy finish and added boost of moisture!

After blending

This was my personal favorite use for these oils! After a shower, use your hands to apply the oil to damp hair. For me, the results are amazing. My hair dries into its usual waves, but they’re smoother, less frizzy, and definitely shinier! I’ve tried other oils that left my hair feeling greasy when it dried, but these left my hair feeling clean and soft. Dry oil can also be applied to dry hair to tame flyaways.

It’s no wonder Huile Prodigieuse made it to the Into The Gloss Top 25!
