Your Summer Beach Bag Beauty Essentials

Stevi Incremona
Stevi graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama. When she's not auditioning and running around New York, she's escaping to her original home at the Jersey Shore and most definitely lying on a beach somewhere equidistant between the ocean and tiki bar. She's a coffee snob, craft beer enthusiast, technology nerd, and obviously (most importantly) has a very real addiction to buying and trying affordable beauty products.

Oh haaaayyyy! It’s officially summertime, which, to me, means beach time. When I ditch real person clothes for a sundress and bathing suit, I tend to ditch most of my extraneous beauty products as well. Winged liner is no match for the sea. However, there are a few essentials that always have a place in my beach bag, in addition to my straw hat and towel.

1. Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid-Lotion Sunblock – $11

2223679I sincerely loathe the feeling of anything even slightly tacky on my face, but sunscreen is an obvious necessity. This sunscreen is a super light, non-sticky cream that’s oil-free and is formulated specifically so that it won’t clog pores. It’s tested on acne prone skin, is waterproof, and it doesn’t have a weird fragrance. It also layers nicely under foundation or powders if you want to be fancy.

2. A Waterproof Makeup Bag full of fun things.

A small, waterproof makeup bag always has a place in my beach tote and also serves as a good place to stash some cash, my phone, and other things that need to stay dry.

In it I keep a lip balm with SPF (totally essential, don’t let your lips burn!), some powder in case a photo opp strikes and I’m being vain about my shiny nose, waterproof mascara, a mirror, and a hairbrush. I also always have a travel sized deodorant cause dude… you gotta reapply.

3. Ray-ban Folding Wayfarer Sunglasses – $155

mhZQq_wmOBFH8EIp1iWtRzwI know all the light-eyed babies will feel me when I say it’s truly impossible to enjoy a day at the beach without sunglasses. But, sometimes it’s annoying to carry around a big case. Enter folding Ray-bans. YES. You heard me correctly. These are full sized, Tom Cruise circa Risky Business style Wayfarers that literally fold in half twice to fit in a case that is the size of the palm of your hand. Whip these out and it’s like the best party trick ever. Everyone around you will freak out. Trust.

4. Solar Recover Skin Hydrating Mist in “Save Your Skin” – $13

70170There are times when we let ourselves slip and forget to reapply sunscreen after we get      out of the water, or have been laying out for a hot minute. Whatever the excuse is, your   skin will be in need of some kind of magic potion. Save Your Skin is an all-natural mist that works to re-hydrate and protect your skin from damage caused by the sun. It calms down burns and works to prevent any kind of peeling.

The bonus is that it feels amazing to   spritz on to your face and body to cool down a bit. This product also just works wonders as a lightweight moisturizer day to day.

5. TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturizing Spray – $15

300Isn’t beach hair just the best? Instead of trying to combat the humidity, salt water, and wind, just settle down and embrace it. Then build on it. I love this particular sea salt spray. It’s light enough that it never makes my hair feel sticky or crunchy (ew). It just adds a little bit more texture to my tresses and brings out a natural, gentle wave to my otherwise straight hair. I also use this product on days I’m not by the water because I love the effect that much. It has a super light, beach-y scent that just smells like summer in a bottle. Definitely not mad about that.

Bonus: GoPong Sun Screen Flask – $10

SF-02Okay, so like this may not be a beauty product, per se. BUT if you use this to provide your friends with beach booze, you will become more beautiful to them in that moment. Just sayin’. This product is for sale on Amazon and is made to look like sunscreen, but is in fact a fully functional flask. I mean, are there better things? No day at the beach is not enhanced by a casual cocktail coming from a stealthy sunscreen bottle in disguise. BRB I’ll just be over there enjoying my Malibu BayBreeze. Catch you later.
