Why You Can Never Justify Wearing Sweatpants Again

When it comes to sweatpants, public opinion is staunchly divided. While some swear by the comfortable attire, others, such as Karl Lagerfeld, have declared sweatpants a sign of defeat – the true mark of letting go. In an interview, Eva Mendes jokingly said sweatpants are the #1 cause of divorce, and America started a revolution in defense of their cotton counterparts. As for me, I’m all for dressing comfortably, but sweatpants just don’t cut it. Before you attack, hear me out.

Being in college, I’ve come to realize that most of our generation equates comfort with carelessness and lack of effort, but it definitely doesn’t have to be that way. Sweatpants are a sign of neglect, and with so many equally easy alternatives, it’s hard to justify the sloppy sweatpants look. If you’re looking for that extra soft, comfy-yet-chic outfit, here are some options that you can throw on.

Joggers are everything when it comes to ease. They are equally as comfortable as sweatpants, but come in infinite colors, patterns and fabrics. All you have to do is throw on a solid t-shirt for an instantly put-together look. The best part? You can put on a dressier top and have an instant outfit for going out at night.

Jumpsuits, overalls, and rompers are purely effortless in all of their one-piece glory. There’s absolutely no thought involved in putting together these outfits, as you don’t have to worry about coordinating tops and bottoms. Not to mention, the material can be equally as comfortable as that of sweatpants, but with a chic little twist.

T Shirt dresses

Like jumpsuits, the t-shirt dress is the epitome of ease. I mean, is there anything better than just slipping into an oversized t-shirt and somehow still looking like you walked straight out of a magazine? I love it paired with booties or gladiators for this summer.

Striped T Shirt

Every woman should have at least one striped T-shirt. Personally, I hoard them like it’s my job and they never get old. Throw one on with jeans, shorts, skirts, it all works!
