This holiday weekend is a pretty self-explanatory one in terms of color combinations. A satchel stuffed with your favorite red, white and blue pieces may be all you think you need to bring to watch the fireworks in Montauk this weekend – but think again! You need to travel prepared to look your best, and 20something is happy to help you remember everything you’ll need with the patriotic, watermelon-eating, beer-drinking handy-dandy checklist below:

1. A seasonal swimsuit

No, it doesn’t have to have an American flag on it. A sexy Baywatch inspired one piece or a high-waisted retro bikini in white or blue will do just as nicely

2. Your fanciest festive wear

fsa_813_classic_stripe_light_navy_white_stripe_1_1It’s the Hamptons. Go all out. What about that little dress you got on the sale rack at Barney’s, or the piece you splurged on from your last vacation? This is the time to wear your finest! Hint hint: for the Hamptons, keep it white and gauzy with these accents of blue/straw this summer like linen espadrilles.

3. Straw Fedora

Speaking of straw, it’s a nice way to stay cool yet boho by the beach. Pack a straw fedora, some trendy wayfarers and a canvas tote so that you are waterside-ready at the drop of a hat

4. Denim denim denim!

Wearing bluejean material, whether it’s in the form of a chambray dress, high-waisted shorts or a popped-collar jacket, you can easily pair it with an American flag bandana or a temporary tattoo for a fun, trendy look

5. Statement jewels.

We’re thinkin’ we like chunky rose gold bracelets with our patriotic outfits this July

6. A stylish but comfy Jitney outfit

Something like your Lululemon yoga pants with a zip-up. If it’s an extra tough holiday hangover, pack your favorite baseball cap and sunnies to block the hatas all the way back to NYC

7. White eyeliner and sparkly make up.

Why not match the fireworks and buy some Body Bauble? It’s fun to dress to theme every once in a while. It’s not every day you can look like a bafoon and actually fit in

* Pro tip: Don’t forget your sunscreen and bronzer! You’re gunna need it…
