You know how you’re always wishing you could just make money by doing nothing? Turns out Netflix has been offering people the next best thing the whole time: Getting paid to watch TV.
These extremely lucky people are known as “juicers,” named after the secretive program known officially as “Project Beetlejuice.” Basically, these people sift through thousands of titles on Netflix to find the perfect still image to represent it. They’re paid $10 per film or show.
Of course, before you get too jealous, the only reason we know about these people is because two of them are suing Netflix for lack of overtime pay, health benefits and paid vacation time. While they work as independent contractors, they say Netflix’s demands make it impossible for them to hold down other jobs and have them routinely overworked.
So there you have it: Work at your typical lame day job, but know you can go to the doctor if you pass out at your desk out of pure boredom and hit your head. OR get paid to watch all the TV you were going to watch anyway but know you’ll never get a paid vacation. It’s a tough choice, yeah?
