The Best Taquerias In Miami To Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

Lia is a writer, blogger, and art-lover. Ultimately just a girl in her thirties blogging about Miami's lifestyle, her travels, and growing up in general on her coming of age blog: www.agirlinherthirties.com.

There is so much about Mexican culture that I love. Mostly, though, I love that they manage to dish out delicious comfort food at a very low cost. If you’re looking to have a mid-week Cinco de Mayo celebration without breaking the bank, here’s my lineup of Miami’s best taquerias in each of my favorite neighborhoods with affordable deals this week:

South Beach

Taquiza:

The classier of the options, you can opt to go to their location tucked a few steps below street-level on Collins Avenue or attend their “tacover” at The Rum Line outdoor bar at the Loews Miami Beach. Either way, you can enjoy a taquiza (it means eating lots of tacos with lots of friends).

Reasons for choosing Taquiza abound: Their signature blue masa is made fresh and ground daily with a process that begins with soaking the corn the night before. Chef Santana boasts of actually knowing the farmers who grow the corn in Mexico. It does not get more authentic than that, and, at $5 to $8, the bites will be light in more ways than one.

Location: 1506 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Taquiza

Wynwood

Coyo Taco:

Wynwood’s favorite taqueria is hosting a block party! Besides their philosophy being “todo fresco” and a guaranteed “fresh Mexican street food experience,” you might want to go for the live mariachis, DJs, and luchadores à la Nacho Libre in the back patio. There will be matches every 30 minutes. The party begins at 4:00 p.m. with $5 specials all night long. What more could you ask for when going out to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

Location: 2300 NW 2nd Ave., Miami, FL 33127

Little Havana

El Jacalito Taqueria Mexicana:

If you’re looking to eat deliciously authentic bad-for-you tacos, then check out this tiny Little Havana spot. The restaurant is small yet homey and the menu reads like a Mexican love letter. On it, you’ll find small dishes such as quesadillas, flautas, and sopes. But their tacos are the most delicious deal. At three for $6, this is the best deal and you can choose from among ten taco fillings, which even include vegetarian options. Follow it with a Modelo Especial and you’ll feel less like you’re in Miami and a lot more Oaxaca.

Location: 3622 W. Flagler St., Miami, FL 33135

Jacalito

Whether you’re soaking up the sun in South Beach, luchando in Wynwood, or laying low in Little Havana, there are plenty of delicious taco options without the spicy prices. So, defy the rumors that there isn’t any good authentic Mexican food in Miami, and hit any of these taquerias today and start the fiesta.
