New Year’s Eve is easily the most anticipated holiday of the calendar year. Every venue in all major cities book the best talent they can afford in order to finish the year on a high note. Oftentimes, however, the hype intoxicates us, making it nearly impossible for reality to meet expectations. Or worse, we spend an entire paycheck on an event that is poorly run and falsely advertised. Then all we are left with are failed dreams, a disorganized coat check operation and an awful start the the new year.
Sometimes though, we’re lucky enough to nab a ticket for the right party. The party that everyone is talking about. The party that everyone wants to go to. The party that doesn’t need any of the fancy what nots or doohickeys, gimmicks or false advertising, because the party has the one thing any party needs most to stand a cut above the rest: a kick ass fucking lineup.
These are our top five in the country.
NYC: Jukely and Area Event Present New Year’s Eve 2016
The Ed Banger Boys bring their genre-defining sound to a gritty Brooklyn warehouse. Experience electronic music in its natural habitat from the frenchmen who laid the foundation for festival EDM. Do the D.A.N.C.E. to the NYE Ball Drop. If you’re feeling fancy, you can also upgrade your NYE experience with a VIP ticket that gets you a four-hour open bar, a separate bathroom area, among other things. The party continues raging past 3 a.m with the after party featuring Odeza and Chrome Sparks. Don’t forget your handlebar mustache, they’re making a comeback in 2016. #calledit
Miami: Fontainbleau Poolside NYE
Lineup: The Weeknd and Kygo
Lose the ability to feel your face while listening to tropical house underneath some palm trees. First Kygo remixed “Often,” and now the two are co-headlining a New Years Eve show at the Fontainebleau. What’s better than welcoming the new year in a tropical paradise? Nothing.
Vegas: Marquee Nightclub NYE
I heard a rumor on some site that Fetty Wap and Bruno Mars are going to perform their mashup “Locked out of an Uptown Trap Again for the 679th time.” Yes, that site is 20some.com and yes, I just started the rumor in the previous sentence. Regardless, the show is still going to be light up Las Vegas. So If you’re in Vegas for the New Year, spend the night at Marquee and tell them Mark sent you.
San Diego: Infinity NYE 2016
Ring in the New Year with the legendary trance group Above & Beyond as they headline at the Town & Country event center in the beautiful city of San Diego. After all, what better way to begin your fresh start than with a little bit of group therapy?
Texas: Lights All Night
Lights All Night is the only NYE music festival on this list, which leads to one logical conclusion: everything’s bigger in Texas. When headliners like Hardwell and Kaskade team up with supporting artists like Yellow Claw, Galantis and JAUZ, any crowd can be inspired to rage their hearts out. Do it big in Dallas.
Whichever show you decide to go to, let it start your year off the right way. That means inspiring you to stay content, driven and playful. Tweet us @20something and let us know how your night was. We promise we care 🙂
