Lindsey Washington aka lindsanity to her friends can either be found roaming the city looking for shade or out with friends throwing shade. She is currently trying to work on her obsession with Lil Wayne and accepting the fact that they will probably never get married, also Drake.
Sweet December has come and gone. The temperature has officially changed, the leaves are completely gone from the trees and maybe finally we will see some snow. It also means it’s time to get rid of some stuff — a lot of stuff — and embrace the New Year. What better way to welcome January than with a few new essentials? These could be things that you wanted for Christmas and didn’t get, or they could be things that you are waiting to pay for with that bonus check that has yet to clear.
This stuff is a lifesaver. Cold weather means your lips are chapped, which also means you’re constantly applying chapstick that will build up over time. Just like you exfoliate your skin, you must also exfoliate your lips! Use this at night, then apply this Neosporin overnight renewal and you’ll wake up amazed in the morning at how smooth and moisturized your lips feel (even in -2 degree weather).
Ugg Boots ($180)
Now, I know what you’re thinking… “Those Ugg boots that everybody owns because they’re so comfortable, but are afraid to wear in public?” No, not those. I’m talking about these, or some variation.
The trick with these Ugg boots is that they are lined on the bottom with the same fuzzy stuff the original Ugg boots have. What does this mean? Maximum warmth during the frigid winter without the need for thick bulky socks. For us that have to walk everywhere, these boots are really the best.
For those of us who hate to wear pants, enter fleece lined leggings. You can really buy them anywhere: Target, Kohls, Duane Reade, DSW, anywhere, and trust me, they are worth it. Why layer long johns under your jeans and look like a snowman when you can just slip on a pair of sleek, slightly padded leggings? Plus, unlike your typical summer leggings, it actually looks like you’re wearing real pants with these. Win!
A random addition, I understand, BUT when your apartment decides to crank up with heat for seven days in a row, things start to get a little dry. World, meet the humidifier. I’ve had quite a few humidifiers in my day but this one is my favorite, mainly because of its adorable design. You can actually see the mist coming out the top (it’s actually quite mesmerizing) and you can control it how fast/slow it comes out based on that.
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed a theme here, but it’s largely about staying moisturized. PSA: at night after you wash yourself of the city filth, please don’t forget to lather on some lotion, especially on your hands. My personal favorite is C.O. Bigelow Lemon hand treatment once a night, every night (and sometimes in the morning). I’m not sure if they make tubs of this stuff, but if they did, I would surely keep 12 at all times in my apartment. It’s just that great.
