It’s officially summer in New York City and everyone’s feeling the heat. Couples are breaking up, weekend romances are happening, and cuffing season is in the back of everyone’s minds.
Now, we’re all swiping left on the way to a weekend getaway, checking guys out on the subway to distract us from the temperature, and smiling at strangers on rooftops (because everyone looks better on a rooftop).
The dating world is weird AF right now, and especially in the summer when everything is noncommittal. The good thing is that you don’t have to commit to a person this season, but you can definitely commit to a new outfit that will be a stable part of your closet when the summer days have gone cold.
So while we’re all hot and heavy, ready for our summer romance to begin and end… We probably don’t have the right wardrobe for it. I’ve rounded up the ideal outfits for varying degrees of dating temperatures to get you through summer in the city.
*Tip: Keep your head high, your laces white, and your style fresh (you’d be surprised how many times I’ve heard this happen)
*Tip: Lose the jacket and walk like you own the place in those epic shoes to rightfully turn heads.
*Tip: Stay cute but casual as if you didn’t overthink what to wear for coffee and try on 100 things.
*Tip: this outfit literally screams summer, so do the season justice and work it (and don’t overdo the rose)
*Tip: Keep is classy and girly. Maybe add some accessories from Spring to jazz it up.
*Tip: you have no idea what’s ahead of you (exciting!) so make sure you have comfortable shoes and an outfit that breathes.
*Tip: Go over the top on trendy as if you’re in a magazine because this is bound to be epic and you’ll want the pictures to prove it.
