Our Favorite Stripper-Told Twitter Tale Is Coming To Theaters

Becca Van Sambeck
Becca is a recent Fordham grad, a former German beer hall girl, and a new Brooklyn resident who used to read the dictionary for fun as a kid. She has only gotten slightly less lame since then. She loves pugs, chicken fingers, reading and Game of Thrones.

Back in October, we were jolted awake by a tale on Twitter that had all the elements of a great movie: sex, drugs, drama, murder, a villain, and a hero for the ages-all told by a stripper named Zola. Her misadventures in Florida with a prostitute, her poor boyfriend, and a threatening pimp made waves across the Internet, thanks to Zola’s unique and funny voice while chronicling what could only be classified as a terrifying trip.

If you read it and thought, “Hmmm, this would be a great movie, I bet James Franco would do it,” then congrats to you, because that is exactly what’s happening. Based off of Rolling Stone’s article with Aziah “Zola” Wells, the film will be directed by Franco. It’s unclear if he’ll also star (although he would be pretty great as poor Jarrett, a guy hopelessly blinded by love to his girlfriend’s exploits).
