NYC Foodie Handbook: @Chelloveswine Breaks Down The 4 Best Rooftop Bars

To everyone’s dismay, summer is basically over.

That just means it’s time to hit all of the best rooftop bars in NYC. My name is Chel and I’m the girl behind the blog and Instagram account, @Chelloveswine. I’m here to help make your rooftop choices easier, all the way down to which wine to order.

Check out my four favorite rooftop bars that you can enjoy until that white stuff starts falling from the sky.

Pod 39 Rooftop

Pod 39, a.k.a. Salvation Taco to those who have been there before, is a perfect spot to escape the madness that is midtown Manhattan. This rooftop is small but lively and provides you with great views of the city. I’d recommend going here for work happy hours and meeting up with friends. Make sure to get there early or you’ll be doomed to wait outside until others enjoying the roof leave.

My wine pick: Billette Cotes De Provence Rosé Cuvee ($9)

Location: 145 E 39th St, New York, NY 10016

Rare View Rooftop

So you can literally see Pod 39 from the rooftop of Rare View. They may be close together but the vibe is way different. Rare View has almost 5,000-square-feet of rooftop that gives you a 360 (almost) degree view of Manhattan. They are also plenty of TVs that gives it a rooftop sports bar vibe, which means that boyfriends and girlfriends alike can be happy here. They have a pretty impressive lineup of cocktails, but I always migrate to the wine (duh). This is another sweet spot for those who work in midtown or for those just visiting and looking to enjoy a night out.

My wine pick: Santa Rita Sauvignon Blanc ($10)

Location: 303 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10016

Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar

Loopy Doopy is the one place on the list that I won’t be suggesting a typical glass of wine. This rooftop bar is known for their Processo + alcoholic popsicle combinations. For those less adventurous, they have Prosecco and Rosecco on tap along with an impressive signature cocktail list. If you get here after work, you have the chance to catch an awesome sunset over Jersey City. This rooftop is quite small but if you get stuck on the dreaded waiting line, the lobby of the hotel is A+ in decor and they have their own wine bar that you can spend your time at.

My wine pick: Blackberry Lemonade Spritzer ($22)

Location: 102 North End Ave, New York, NY 10282

The Press Lounge

The Press Lounge is so chic that I always feel slightly out of place until I have my third glass of wine and magically feel like I fit right in. All of the other rooftops around have height restrictions on them so your view from here is completely unobstructed. I always plan to only come here for a drink or two, but that view sucks you in and you end up staying all night. If you get a bit chilly there is a magically luxurious lounge you can relax in while you still enjoy the city views.

My wine pick: 2015 Cuma Organic Malbec ($17)

Location: 653 11th Ave, New York, NY 10036
