NYC has a tendency to combine amazing things together into one wonderful occasion. On April 21 and 22, it accomplished just that with the Bacon and Beer Classic at Citifield in Queens. Unlimited delectable, melt in your mouth, and innovative foods made with bacon to enjoy with thirst-quenching, craft beers? Obviously, this was a dream come true. Tastings included beers from over 100 different breweries, and although food lines were long, the 50+ restaurants participating with their bacon-infused dishes were legendary. From a pork belly burger to a bacon chocolate cheesecake paired off with IPAs, lagers and stouts, everyone left with a deeper love of bacon and beer than they had before. What more could you ask for?
For those of you who may have missed it (sorry I’m not sorry), try to get your hands on tickets to these up-and-coming events, so that you too can brag about experiencing an event that would make the masses jealous.
Located at The Well Public House in Bushwick, the Five Boro Craft Beer Fest on May 6 will combine the best of local and out of state craft breweries with local NY eats. Tickets are a bit hefty at $85 (that’s Brooklyn for ya), but it includes food, drinks, live music, and a special surprise gift! (Which we’re hoping is just more free beer in the future). Let’s hope the music is a big act (if the Rusty Cannons are considered big….) so you can really brag on this one.
On Saturday, May 7, the specialty wine events company Proud Wineaux LLC will be hosting an evening of special wine tastings, paired with gourmet cheese and mini-tapas. Located on West 37th Street, this event is perfect for a fun date outing — all for $45! Take your palate on a journey to the unknown, and learn and experience the joys of wine and cheese without the snobbery. What could be better?
Time Out New York is throwing an epic summer preview party on May 11 ON A BOAT down by the Hudson River Park pier — Lonely Island style. The ticket price is only $50, and includes appetizers, an open bar, and, you know, the boat sailing around the gorgeous New York harbor. Also on deck will be the Hairroin Salon Braid Bar, Tattly Temporary Tattoos (so you can fool your parents), and vintage Polaroid cameras already loaded up with film so that you post nothing on Instagram. This is one party you won’t want to miss.
I am sorry to bring you a competition between Time Out Magazine and the Village Voice, but you now have a decision to make. Also on May 11, the Village Voice will be hosting an unforgettable evening of your favorite brunch eats, but for dinner! Located at the Intrepid Air and Space Museum (another killer place….) and $85, at least it includes the price for admission. Featuring the Black Ant, Dough, and Tom’s Restaurant (SEINFELD), among others, and associated with themed brunch cocktails and live music, this event sounds too fun to pass up. Decisions, decisions…..
On Friday, May 13, get your ticket to experience the top restaurants, drinks, and chefs that NY has to offer, all for the special deal price of $40! This event is made for the foodies of the world. Taking place at the Metropolitan Pavilion on W 18th Street, vendors include Magnolia’s Bakery, Fresh and Co, Sixpoint Brewery, and Bistango, among many others. What’s even better about this ticket is that a portion of proceeds will go to charity. Food, drinks, and charity; a noble cause!
Even if you missed out of the Bacon and Beer (try out Bar Bacon to fulfill your needs until next year), there are a ton of other great events coming up that combine the best of multiple activities that everyone loves. So get out there and make your followers jealous!
