Holiday Edition: What To Do In New York City This Weekend (Dec 2-4)

Ashley Falzone
Ashley is your semi-above-average 20 something living in Astoria who lives and breathes NYC life. She goes about her days looking forward to all the food she will consume. She also loves referencing Kanye West quotes in her articles whenever applicable.

It’s time to get into the holiday spirit this weekend as you recover from your Thanksgiving day (or week) of gluttony.

Bank of America Winter Village Tree Lighting Skate-tacular

Bryant Park is the crème de le crème of the NYC holiday season, mostly because of its extensive holiday market and free ice-skating. More importantly, their holiday tree is one that some could say is better than the one at Rockefeller Center. The annual lighting is taking place at 6 p.m. on December 2. It’s featuring a slew of Olympian and world champion figure skaters, festive music, and a fireworks display. This will surely get you in the holiday spirit.

Schwick Holiday Market

Schwick is taking place in Bushwick for this weekend only, and is just one of the many holiday markets that NYC has to offer (for a list of all others you can attend, go here). Schwick is special since it’s in a humongous warehouse, because duh, Brooklyn, and includes more than 120 of the most creative makers in NYC. The event is free to the public, so start your holiday shopping early and support your local artisans.

Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl

Try to forget about the atrocity that is Santacon and attend this fun loving pub-crawl instead. The 6th Annual New York City Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl is taking place on December 3 and features up to ten of the East Village’s top rated venues. At only $10, you get great drink specials while keeping it cozy with your ugly sweater.

Party like It’s 1999: All I Want for Christmas is Mariah Edition

We all know that Mariah Carey’s favorite (and relevant) time of year is now, so get on your dancing shoes and get down to the Bell House on December 3 to celebrate the best Christmas album of the 1990’s (and all time). In case you don’t agree, the DJ will also be spinning the hottest hits from the 90’s in general. As always, it’s free, which is all you want for Christmas, right?
