The word Tequila alone may make you cringe, especially if you have some nightmare stories of the time you took one too many tequila shots, but on National Tequila Day (or any day you feel like enjoying the liquor) we’re switching up those shots for some classy cocktail recipes.
Whether you like your classic margarita, or want to try something totally new, we’ve got you covered (and hopefully will save you from a nasty Tuesday morning hangover).
Angry Orchard paired up with NYC mixologist Jeremy Oertel to incorporate our favorite classic margarita with their refreshing Crisp Apple cider. Step up your margarita game with an “angry” twist and a few simple ingredients (but rest assured, you’ll probably feel anything but angry after one or two cocktails).
– 4 oz Angry Orchard Crisp Apple
– 1 oz Blanco Tequila
– 0.5 oz Grenadine
– 0.5 oz Lime Juice
– Dash of Angostura Bitters
Combine all ingredients except for cider in a cocktail shaker and shake. Pour into rocks glass with ice and top with Angry Orchard Crisp Apple. Garnish with a lime wheel.
We can’t stay away from twisting the classic, but how can you resist that tropical blue drink? Throw a drink umbrella in there, and forget your worries (especially the fact that it’s Monday).
– Coarse salt
– 4 ounces tequila
– 1 ounce Triple Sec
– 2 ounces blue curacao
– 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
– 1 tablespoon simple syrup
– Lime wedges, for garnish
Using 1 lime wedge for each glass, rub each rim. Dip rim in a plate of salt. Combine tequila, Triple Sec, blue curacao, lime juice and simple syrup in shaker, fill with ice cubes, and shake it like you mean it for 30 seconds. Strain the margarita into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with lime wedges (or just start drinking).
Raspberry Rose Tequila Kombucha
It has Kombucha in it, so it must be healthyish right? Either way, if you’re a Kombucha drinker, this is the cocktail for you.
– 4 fresh or frozen raspberries
– Juice of 1/2 a lemon
– 2 ounces silver tequila
– 1-2 teaspoons rose water (optional)
– 1 plain or ginger kombucha
Muddle the raspberries, lemon juice, tequila, and rose water in a glass. Add ice, gently mix to combine. Pour the kombucha over top, again gently stirring to combine. DRINK!
Boozy Watermelon Slush
There’s nothing better than a cold fruity slushy on a hot summer day, unless of course you add Tequila (goodbye 7-Eleven slushies, hello boozy goodness).
– 5 cups diced seedless watermelon
– 2 tablespoons sugar
– Juice of 1 lime, optional
– 1 oz of your choice of tequila
Combine watermelon, sugar, lime juice, tequila, and 1 cup ice in blender until smooth. Serve immediately.
