Since being promoted to creative director in 2011, fashion designer Olivier Rousteing has done a lot to help elevate the Balmain brand. As creative director, Rousteing strives to maintain the respectable reputation of the french designer house while also finding ways to create and incorporate a fresh aesthetic.
In 2015, Rousteing took the Balmain Army and collaborated with notable retail store H&M, granting customers the opportunity to shop luxury Balmain pieces at more affordable prices. The collaboration was a success as Balmain pieces sold out at H&M stores across the nation.
In the Fall of 2017, Balmain will be collaborating with another creditable brand but this time in the market of beauty — a new lipstick capsule collection in collaboration with L’oreal Paris. The Collection features 12 different shades of lipstick, ranging from mattes to metallics. All inspired and named after Rousteing’s favorite supermodels, including the legendary Lara Stone, Grace Bol and Luma Grothe just to name a few.
Rousteing wanted to put in the same amount of effort into this beauty collection as he would fashion. Which explains the presentation of the lipsticks. All are uniquely presented in a gold tube and the same shade as the lipstick packaged. Each lipstick is priced to sell at an impressive $14. The Capsule Collection is expected to launch September 20th, at both barneys.com and lorealparisusa.com. Just in time for the holidays!
