Two of the more popular supplements that have picked up steam in recent years are fat burners and thermogenic aids. These commonly come in pill form and are used to help burn fat by increasing your core body temperature as well as slightly boosting your metabolic rate for an extended period of time.
They usually contain caffeine or coffee bean extract, along with green tea extract, mixed with some other fancy root or bark extracts that make you sweat through your shirt at any given time. The theory behind it is if you can boost your metabolic rate for an extended period of time, your body will demand more energy to use, and therefore (hopefully) will mobilize fat stores for energy, resulting in “burning” fat tissue for the required energy.
Sounds great, right? My honest opinion is that these fat burners are first and foremost a waste of money, and secondly a quick fix for the lazy (sorry).
Every human being, regardless of their genetics, is capable of burning fat, raising their metabolism, and improving body composition without a pill. It may take more discipline for some, but you better believe you are capable of doing it.
Any minimal amount of fat you burn from these pills will likely come back when your bottle of fat burners runs dry, unless you want to keep buying it every month for the rest of your life!
My best advice is put the work in, do your homework, and watch what you eat. The hard work pays off, and will last longer than a month’s worth of fat burning pills.
