We all have it, that one beauty ritual that you’ve been doing for so long you can’t even remember where, when or why you started it. For example, every night I wash my face with my Clarisonic, I then cleanse, use toner, serum, lotion, coconut oil and apply Vaseline under my eyes.
Why so many steps, you ask? To be honest, I don’t know. I think it helps my skin? Or so I’ve been told, but it’s my… thing. I also try and get a facial every (depending on my paycheck) month and use silk pillowcases. It’s the little things. Because I wanted to feed my curiosity and also benefit from other people’s beauty regimes, I asked 20somes what their go-to beauty secret or ritual was. Here’s what they had to say:
I love coconut oil or cocoa butter gel fresh out the shower to keep skin moisturized. Rub it on while wet and pat dry with towel.
“Each Morning and night I use either sunflower seed or argan oil facial treatment to give my face a nice glow. That way when I do not want to wear make up, I’d still have an even finish to my face.” — Kymiel
“I wash my face each morning with Kiehl’s herbal gel cleanser and right after a shower I use Clinique’s facial toner. Also… SLEEP. I try to get eight hours a night, so I rub lavender oil and cedar wood oil on my wrists or neck that aid in producing melatonin.” — Tyler
I’m very low maintenance. I visit the dermatologist all the time, wash my face in the morning, then put on lotion. My hair, however, is where all the real work goes. I’ll save that for another time.
“I put Vaseline around my eyes and eyebrows, and in the winter I also put it on my feet and wear socks at night.Vaseline is really great!” — Elise
“I don’t feel like I really have a beauty secret but I make an effort to drink a lot of water to hydrate my skin. Then it’s really just using my Proactive to clean my skin and use Neutrogena oil sheets to blot myself throughout the day.” — Alex
The real beauty secret is three liters of water a day, a lot of sleep and shea butter on the face at night.
