5 Beauty Cheats That Will Let You Wake Up 15 Minutes Later

Stevi graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama. When she's not auditioning and running around New York, she's escaping to her original home at the Jersey Shore and most definitely lying on a beach somewhere equidistant between the ocean and tiki bar. She's a coffee snob, craft beer enthusiast, technology nerd, and obviously (most importantly) has a very real addiction to buying and trying affordable beauty products.

There are two kinds of women in this world, folks. The first are the majestic creatures that inspire every rom-com ever. They wake up bright-eyed, with rosy cheeks and gently tousled hair that’s still styled from the night before, ready to take on the day with no need for makeup or any kind of fixing.

Then there’s, you know, human women. We wake up more closely resembling trolls than our own pictures from our Bumble profiles. It’s cool, though. Need to look presentable, but you’ve hit the snooze button too many times to adequately go through your beauty routine? Turn to these genius products to cheat the system and let them bring you back to life – fast.

1. Simple Cleansing Micellar Water – $8

simple-micellarIf you’ve washed your face the night before, there’s really no need to do a hardcore skincare routine in the morning. However, it is nice to remove any of the potential sweat or natural oils that may have joined you overnight.

Micellar water is basically magic, triple-purified water with vitamins that work to clean the skin, remove makeup and impurities, unclog pores, and leave your skin hydrated. The dreamy truth of this product is that you don’t even need to be by your sink to use it. Just pour it onto a cotton round and wipe it onto your face. It’ll clean and remove any oils or traces of makeup you might have missed the night before, while leaving your skin hydrated enough to move on to the rest of your beauty routine. What? Amazing.

Quick Tip: Keep a bottle of this by your bed with some cotton rounds for nights out when you juuuust can’t be bothered to take your face off. This will remove your makeup, and you don’t need to cleanse your skin after. Boom.

2. Batiste Dry Shampoo – $8

originalListen, showers that include hair washing are not always an option, but neither is going about your day rocking the slightly greasy, incredibly flat hairdo that your night-time self bestowed unto you. Enter dry shampoo.

While there are a lot of really terrible dry shampoos out there that will actually increase your need for a hair wash, Batiste is freaking fantastic. This dry shampoo comes in a slew of scents that end up acting like a nice hair perfume, in addition to absorbing any oils in your roots. They’ve also gone so far as to create dry shampoos that cater to a specific hair color, so the saucy brunettes of the world need not worry about walking around with grey roots. Unless, you know, you feel that’s your best self.

Quick Tip: Spray some dry shampoo into your roots before going to bed to combat oil production over night. Spray in a little bit more come morning for added volume and texture.

3. Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfecter – $13

P0005_packshotOh Em Gee I love this product so hard. On days when I’m in a rush, or can’t be bothered to dive into a full face routine, I reach for this product. The hyaluronic acid and glycerine in this BB cream allow it essentially replace moisturizer, while the Vitamin C boosts luminosity in your skin. Glow, baby, glow.

In addition to actually being helpful for your skin, the pigment provides a medium to full coverage base. This means it’ll cover up any signs of lack of sleep or stress your skin might be showing, without making you feel guilty for constantly covering up with heavy foundations that could clog your pores over time.

This product comes in two different formulas depending on skin type – one to combat oils, and one to provide extra hydration to dry skin. So, the oily lasses (like me) won’t need to set this product with powder in order to maintain a matte face.

4. Benefit Gimme Brow – $24

benefit-gimme-browIn my humble opinion, one of the quickest ways to pull your face together is to frame your eyes by taming your eyebrows. Even on days that I’m wearing super minimal makeup, I find that dealing with the brows makes me look a whole lot more polished. Enter this little tube of dreams. It’s basically a super mini mascara for your brows that has pigments to tint your natural hairs, in addition to fibers that work to fill in any sparse areas you may have, giving you a nice full brow. The gel locks everything into place to ensure that nothing will move all day. It makes the whole process take about 30 seconds. You have time for this.

Quick Tip: If this price tag is too hefty, check out NYX’s version of this same product. It doesn’t have the fibers, but it does have the pigments so it’ll do the trick for about half the price.

5. Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream – $13

jergens-bb-body-perfecting-skin-creamPerhaps in your super optimistic evening, you planned an outfit for the next day that involves casually showing some skin. Perhaps optimistic you also forgot about your lack of commitment to moisturizer in the previous weeks, so current you is caught off guard by the dull, uneven skin you’re now about to show to the world. Fear not. This new product solves everything.

It’s basically a moisturizer with a very light amount of pigmentation and luminosity that will revitalize your skin, blur some imperfections immediately, and allow it to catch light in a way that makes you look healthy and on top of your skincare game. It’s not like applying makeup to your skin, it’s just a nice little bit of help. Over time and constant usage (they claim 5 days), it’s supposed to help even out your skin tone and firm skin cells. I’m definitely in it for the immediate help, though.
